Amherstburg River Lights Winter Festival

Saturday November 18, 2017 – Saturday December 30, 2017. Beautiful light displays, tree lighting in olde towne square, outdoor holiday movie, hot chocolate, carolers, children crafts, and fireworks! A new commemorative display adorning the fountain is installed for the 10th year anniversary.  A larger than life Frosty visits during the outdoor, classical movie “Frosty the Snowman” encouraging visitors and residents to make their 2016 wishes at this magical scenery.

Super Santa Run

Saturday November 18, 2017. One of the popular events on Opening Night is the Annual Super Santa 5km Run/Walk presented by the Essex Regional Conservation Foundation in partnership with River Lights Winter Festival. Stay after for the tree lighting and fireworks!

River Lights, Ignite the Night

TBA. The tradition continues with the annual tree lighting ceremony! Join us at this winter family event. Festivities include an outdoor movie, SUPER Santa Run, municipal tree lighting, Gingerbread Warming House activities, over 100 light displays and a spectacular fireworks finale!

Amherstburg Santa Claus Parade

TBA. Jolly tradition with fabulous floats, marching bands, and a spectacle of fun in downtown Amherstburg! Visit the big guy Santa afterwards at the Gingerbread Warming House at Toddy Jones Park.

Gingerbread House Contest

TBA. Our Annual Gingerbread House Building Contest invites baker and decorators to show us their skills and creativity. Participants are extremely creative in their designs and use of materials. Five Categories: Youth 6 and under, Youth 7-12, Teen 13-18, Adult 19-64, & Seniors 65+. Entries must be dropped off with registration form Thursday, November 17 between 2 pm – 6 pm at the Gingerbread Warming House at Toddy Jones Park.

Gingerbread Warming House

Saturday November 18 to Saturday December 23, 2017. Each year, a hardworking crew adds new additions to the decorations used to make the Gingerbread Warming House the jewel of the festival. Please be sure to drop by and view the wonderful artwork both outside and inside of the Warming House. Then, step inside to ‘warm up’ enjoy Christmas Crafts for Kids, Sunday Story Telling Time and view the entries in our Gingerbread House Building Competition.

Holiday House Tours

Saturday November 25 – Sunday November 26, 2017. Each year, we invite you to visit 10 beautifully & professionally decorated homes and sites. You will have the opportunity to see a wide assortment of decorative styles; some very modern, some whimsical, and some very richly historic. 2016 Ticket prices are $25 and includes tea room and crafts sale at Park House Museum.
