Windsor International Film Festival: Monthly Series
Thursday May 10, 2018. The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) is pleased to announce Stanley Tucci’s Final Portrait and Samuel Maoz’s Foxtrot as the WIFF 365 May screenings. Final Portrait: In Paris 1964, famed painter Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush) bumps into his old friend James Lord (Armie Hammer), the American critic, and asks him to be a model for his latest portrait in his studio for a couple of days. Flattered by the request, Lord complies and as the days turn into weeks and so on, he realizes his entire life has been wasted by this erratic genius. Foxtrot: Michael and Dafna are devastated when army officials show up at their home to announce the death of their son Jonathan. While his sedated wife rests, Michael spirals into a whirlwind of anger only to experience one of life’s unfathomable twists, which rival the surreal military experiences of his son. Foxtrot was Israel’s 2018 Oscar submission.
