Windsor Essex Barrel Trail Relaunches With New Digital Passport Program

New Digital Flight Log Passport Program Offers Visitors and Locals Three Ways To Explore Windsor Essex

WINDSOR, ON – August 6th is officially International Beer Day across the world and today to celebrate, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island held an event to appreciate the growth of the brewery scene in our region in conjunction with our Barrels Bottles & Brews Trail brewery and distillery discovery route.

To promote the local craft beer and spirit industry Tourism Windsor Essex has launched an enhanced version of the Flight Log, a passport exploration program in partnership with the 14 locations on the Barrels Bottles & Brews Trail. Utilizing the technology of Bandwango, a software platform company, the Flight Log encourages visitors and locals alike to experience the 12 breweries and 2 distilleries on the Barrels Bottles & Brews Trail with three passport options, all in a digital format available from their smartphone.

“With its launch 5 years ago and the addition of the incentive-based Flight Log passport program in 2019, the Barrels Bottles & Brews Trail has had an impressive run since its inception. We are excited to witness the program’s evolution from paper passports to digital passes, enabling for a more streamlined and user-friendly experience” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex. “Our region is known as the birthplace of Canadian whisky and features award-winning ales, lagers, stouts and more. Take to the trail with your Flight Log passport and get a taste of them all  with the touch of a button!”

The updated Flight Log has three options that operate exclusively in a digital format with no downloading needs, and allow users to explore at their leisure including a One Day Flight Log for $25 allowing tastings at 5 locations over 24 hours, and a 7 Day Flight Log for $40 allowing tastings at 9 locations over a week.

To engage locals, a third Frequent Flyer Membership for $75 has been added to give purchasers a full years experience on the Barrels Bottles & Brews Trail. Membership has it perks – including a complimentary tasting at each partner, a complimentary birthday tasting at their preferred location, monthly offers only available to Frequent Flyer members at specific locations, industry announcements, brew and spirit release details, exclusive gifts, and monthly giveaways. Flight Logs are available for purchase now at flightlog.ca.

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island was awarded the Culinary Leadership Award in October 2019 from the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario for leadership in culinary tourism, in part to the creation of programs like the Barrels Bottles & Brews Trail.
