Post Productions is honoured to present this brilliant, intense, brutally beautiful, and subtle play – one of the most controversial and influential scripts of the 20th century – for Windsor-Essex audiences. In Blasted, Ian, a middle-aged journalist, arranges a rendezvous in an upscale Leeds hotel room with Cate, a young woman with whom Ian hopes to rekindle a relationship that ended several years before. Outside their room, war is coming with an unseen and unspecified enemy. Unseen, that is, until a soldier arrives and the hotel room, and out assumptions about what’s going on, are blown to pieces.
Although frequently produced in continental Europe, Blasted is rarely staged in the English-speaking world. Post Productions is one of only four theatre companies to bring it to Canada. See it while you can; you may never get another chance.
Warning: This play is not suitable for children. It contains mature themes, offensive language, nudity, and acts of physical, sexual, and psychological violence.
Post Productions and The Shadowbox Theatre now require all patrons, cast, crew, and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Patrons will be required to present proof of their vaccination status at the MNSI Box Office upon arrival. Patrons must also be masked at all times while inside The Shadowbox Theatre.
