Honens Prize Winner Play Liszt
Saturday, May 2, 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Hailed by critics as “sparkling…sensitive and coloristic” (New York Times) and “simply gorgeous” (Wall Street Journal), 2018 Honens Laureate, pianist Nicolas Namoradze, makes his WSO debut playing romantic masterpieces by Liszt and Schumann. Two tone poems centred on life in the Mediterranean join the monumental piano works. Richard Strauss brings the tales of Don Juan to life in a tour de force for the orchestra and finish the season with English composer Edward Elgar’s love note to Italy upon his return from his travels in the south. Enjoy the pre-concert talk at 6:30pm.
