The Rococo and Beyond
Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, October 18
The Rococo period in music straddles the middle of the 18th century and bridges the changes that occurred between the florid Baroque composers and the Age of Enlightenment Classicists such as Mozart and Beethoven. These times in history provide us with a keen insight into how composers look backwards with reverence and forward with courage to create music that changed the status quo of their day. Early Haydn symphonies, the music composed by children of J.S. Bach, and the French master, Jean Phillipe Rameau are all great examples of the transitional music of Rococo period.
