We do stress the importance to always maintaining 2m of space and abide by other social distancing measures while you play along.

B: is for Items Beginning with B

Local Craft Brewery

Hopefully you’ve spotted one of Windsor Essex’s amazing local craft breweries, or you’ve heard of our Barrels Bottles and Brews barrel trail featuring 12 breweries and 2 distilleries.  Spot one of them to capture this square.

Billboards

Our local billboards often highlight the local shows, films and world-renowned acts gracing the stages of The Colosseum, The Bank Theatre, The Capitol Theatre, Migration Hall.  The stage may currently be quiet but they will soon be back to life with our vibrant arts scene.

I: is for Independent Businesses

Art Studio or Gallery

There is beauty all around us if we just look to see it.  Windsor Essex is home to many local art galleries, artist studios and co-ops like The Gibson Gallery, The Leamington Art Centre, Nancy Johns Gallery or The Art Gallery of Windsor.

Fruit Stand or Local Grocer

W.E. Heart Local products including our locally grown fruits, vegetables and food items.  From The Cheese Bar to Lee & Maria’s Market to Fred’s Farm Fresh, we are lucky to have so many great stores, stands and shops selling homegrown products.

N: is for Neighbourhood Items

Window or chalk Art

One of the great ways to keep the household entertained and the neighbourhood looking pretty is to display art in doors and windows, or leave bright chalk art and messages.  Keep your eyes out for some of these creative additions to the neighbourhood.

Railway Crossing

One of the convenient and easy ways to get to the Windsor Essex area is with Via Rail – keep your eyes open for a railway crossing or train station!

G: is for Great Finds

Canadian Flag

This border city is definitely proud to be the Southernmost part of Canada, and you’ll find Canadian flags flying across all our municipalities in addition to our grand Riverfront Flag.

Street Art or Murals

From Maiden Lane to Ford City to the Town of Essex Murals, there are some colourful, stunning outdoor art work and community murals across Windsor Essex that will surely bring some brightness to your day.

O: is for Outdoor Adventures

Parks & Conservation areas

John R. Park Homestead, Hillman Marsh, Kings Navy Yard Park and Dieppe Gardens are just a few of the parks and conservation areas that we are lucky to have here in Windsor Essex.  Take a moment to appreciate the blooms you may start to find poking up through the ground now that spring has officially sprung.

Trails

Windsor Essex is lucky to have the ability to stroll on the Ganatchio, explore along the Herb Gray Parkway or take in some green space along the Lasalle Trails or the Chrysler Canada Greenway.  Make sure to mark down our local cycling trails to be on your to-do list for the summer.

Maybe it’s a good time to bring back those leisurely afternoon family drives of past (especially now that gas prices are so low) and see what you can find on our Week 1 #YQGStandsStrong Bingo card.  Our list of items can be found in each of our municipalities and neighbourhoods, but feel free to explore wherever your wheels or legs will take you.

Remember to always keep an appropriate amount of space if you are walking through your neighbourhood, and stay in your car if you are out taking a drive.  There is so much to see and discover right in your own back yard.   Who knows – maybe you’ll find new things to add to your list of things to explore in the future!
