The Merlot & The Cabernet Wine Barrels
Come and stay aboard our panoramic floating barrel located on quiet Fox Creek, a step away from the historic County Road 50 wine route. Your hosts have worked hard to provide you with all the amenities required to spend a night floating out on the creek and your day lounging by the vineyard or out touring the incredible Essex County. We provide a queen bed overlooking the creek through a large panoramic window where guests enjoy the stars and incredible sunrises and sunsets. As you drift off to sleep you may be serenaded by the frogs and the stillness that only the county can provide.
Your personal campfire and row boat make relaxing a breeze, and the grill and tiki bar make cooking up and enjoying your meals on the dock an absolute must. We want you to spend your time relaxing rather than unpacking so we offer all bbq utensils, dishware, cookware, linens, towels, lighters and of course beer/wine openers! Each unit is lit up at night with solar powered dock lights and each barrel has their own portable toilet housed a few steps from the dock…even they are lit up at night with twinkling fairy lights.
Our floating cabins are off-grid and we try and provide an environmentally conscious experience for our guests. The majority of power is solar, the A/C unit being the only appliance that requires a generator on those warm nights (fuel is also provided). We provide biodegradable soap, shampoo and conditioner for those desiring a refreshing outdoor shower aboard the dock, and recycling receptacles are provided. We are a haven for wildlife and host many bird and animal enthusiasts throughout the year. Blue Herons, Egrets, migratory birds, Bald Eagles, King Fishers, foxes, fish of all kinds, Monarchs and many other species can be seen from your lounging area on the dock.
Please check out our listings to see the beautiful comments left by our two years of guests, and we look forward to hearing from you and hosting your peaceful and quiet nights floating just off the wine route!
