Six Ways To Support Small Businesses Right Now

During these challenging times, it’s the support of the community that keeps our small businesses and entrepreneurs alive. A lot of them are still opening their doors to serve you food, providing you drinks, or crafting spectacular pieces which are perfect for gifts and additions to your home.

For those who are able to we’ve put together 6 easy ways you can support small businesses right now and help keep the vibrancy of our community alive.

Order Take-out or Delivery

The Windsor Essex food scene is vibrant – small restaurants and locally owned joints providing you some of your favourite meals. Though you can’t dine in right now, a lot of them are providing take-out options. Get your favourite burger, pizza, tacos & more to enjoy at home. Check out our Windsor Essex Take-Out Guide for a list by area and make sure to check back as it is updated daily.

If you are a local restaurant providing take-out or delivery you can always get featured for free in this list.

Drink some Craft Brews

The craft breweries in Windsor Essex are award winning – including the best pilsner in Ontario (courtesy of Walkerville Brewery). And you can still pretty much get every single one of our breweries beers to enjoy during your downtime in self-isolation. Click here for our local craft brewery & distillery guide to see who’s retail is open for pick up and even some who are providing home delivery if you order a case or more!

Buy Local – Online

Check out yqgmade.ca for our W.E Made It program – a guide full of locally made goods from Windsor Essex artisans and makers. Most, if not all, of their shops are closed but you can order a lot of their hand made and unique items online, or just order a gift card to use later, but will help them with cash flow now.

Drink Local Wines

If you are going to be home, may as well have a glass of local wine in hand.  Our wineries are making it easy with door-to-door delivery or curbside pick-up so you can keep social distancing while still sipping bold reds & crisp whites. Click here for our winery guide of which of our EPIC Wineries are open to keep you stocked up.

Take Part in #TakeoutTuesday

This Tuesday we’re encouraging you to order take out or delivery from your favourite restaurants. Click here for our Take Out Guide and plan to order in some of your favourite grub.  Many will drop off on your porch or allow you to pick-up curbside so you can keep your distance.  Ensure to call your orders in ahead and be ready with debit or credit to limit cash handling.

Share your pics with us on social media all day on Tuesday using #TakeoutTuesday and #YQGStandsStrong to show our local restaurants and entrepreneurs how much we love our food scene in Windsor Essex!
